Weston Stainless, a Midland, UK-based company, is a reputable supplier of high-quality stainless steel products, with a specialty in sophisticated welding consumables. One of their high-end products is Alloy 309LMo SAW and Flux, which is a high-performance submerged arc welding (SAW) wire with corresponding flux. The alloy is of Grade 309LMo and is sold in wire form, normally supplied on spools or coils. Produced from austenitic stainless steel with the addition of Molybdenum, it offers superior corrosion resistance, high strength, and improved weldability. It is available for submerged arc welding use in applications needing high-temperature stability and protection against harsh environments, such as chemical and marine process industries.
309LMo SAW wire contains Chromium (22-24%), Nickel (12-14%), and Molybdenum (2-3%), with balanced levels of Manganese, Silicon, and low Carbon content (<0.03%) to improve corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. It provides tensile strength of about 600 MPa, yield strength of about 400 MPa, and elongation of about 30%, which is very ductile and tough. In physical properties, it possesses a density of nearly 7.9 g/cm³ and a melting point range of 1400-1450°C. Combined with the right flux, it gives good slag removal, smooth surface appearance, and lower porosity for improved weld integrity.

Alloy 309LMo SAW and Flux are widely used in industries demanding high corrosion resistance and mechanical strength, such as chemical processing, power generation, and offshore structures. It is best suited for welding mild or carbon steel to stainless steel, cladding, and making heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and storage tanks. This alloy is widely applied in pulp and paper mills, marine technology, and refinery equipment that comes into contact with aggressive chemicals and high temperatures. Its thermal cycling and oxidation resistance qualify it for furnace parts, boilers, and structural uses requiring excellent weld life.
Weston Stainless provides Alloy 309LMo SAW and Flux with test reports certified to confirm its chemical composition and mechanical properties according to international standards. The wire is packaged tightly in coils or on spools and the flux comes in moisture-resistant bags to sustain long life and avoid contamination. Both wire and flux come in different diameters and packaging lengths and are properly stored and transported to preserve product integrity. Weston Stainless provides punctual domestic and international shipping with complete traceability, following high-quality control practices for reliable, high-performance welding solutions.
